I was looking to add a similar request. Being able to enable configurable limits for automated merge jobs, both globally and/or per job, would be very useful. In particular, limiting the:

• Maximum number of records that can be merged within a single duplicate set. 
• And maximum number of duplicate sets that can be processed in a job.

This would reduce the risk of unintended mass merges caused by unexpected mass system changes.
