DataGroomr checks website addresses for the following criteria:

  • URL format validity
  • Domain name registration (DNS records)
  • Website HTTPS certificates
  • Website response: DataGroomr opens the website and follows any redirects to the final page

Upon verification, the website verification status is displayed under the website field.

DataGroomr calculates a score and provides a website address verification status:

  • Unverified - the website has not been verified yet
  • Valid - all checks passed, the website is valid and reachable at the address as entered (score is 100)
  • Warning - the website is reachable, but the address redirects to a different URL. DataGroomr offers that URL as a suggestion (score is 60)
  • Invalid - the website does not exist or is unreachable (score is 0)

Website suggestions

When a website address redirects to another page, DataGroomr suggests the address the website lands on. For example, if acme.com redirects to https://www.acme.org, the suggestion is https://www.acme.org. A redirect that only adds a trailing slash or changes the letter case of the domain does not produce a suggestion. Only an address that DataGroomr reached successfully is offered as a suggestion.

You can filter the records in a Cleanse Dataset to show only the ones with suggestions.

To review suggestions, click the Suggestion label on a record, or the Verify chip in the Pending changes bar above the grid. The Verified suggestions queue opens with the current and suggested values side by side. Switch on the fields you want to update and click Apply to write them to Salesforce and move to the next record, Skip to leave the suggestion pending, or Ignore to dismiss it.

To apply website suggestions without reviewing them, switch on Auto Apply Suggestion for the website field in the Mass Verify dialog. An applied suggestion replaces the website value in Salesforce and the status becomes Valid.
